Augusta National toughens up its 15th hole as it readies for The Masters April 7-10

Lengthened hole makes approach shot daunting

Augusta National has increased the golf course’s difficulty level as the PGA Tour’s first major of the year approaches. The par five 15th hole, considered one of the track’s easiest holes, will be playing 20 yards longer this year. Although the hole can still be reached in two, it will require a longer iron to do so, making the approach across the guarding pond more daunting. The hole’s fairway has also been “recontoured,” according to The Masters media guide. Changes have also been made to the 11th and 18th holes.
